Palace Press Officer Usec. Claire Castro hit back at Vice President Sara Duterte after the latter criticized President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. for allegedly moving too slowly on the issue of anomalous flood control projects.
Speaking in a Malacañang press briefing, Castro defended Marcos, saying the President refuses to rush investigations and is already taking action to address corruption tied to flood control projects.
“Hindi po naniniwala ang Pangulo sa isang EJK-style, walang imbestigahan, libingan ang hantungan,” Castro stressed.
She added: “Ang gusto ng Pangulo, due process.”
Castro then fired back at Duterte, telling her to “look in the mirror,” pointing out that her own father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, had admitted to failing in addressing corruption in government.

“Hindi rin (naman) nasugpo ang korapsyon noong panahon ng nakaraang administrasyon, dahil umamin mismo ang dating Pangulo (Duterte) na siya mismo ay corrupt, inamin niyang nagnanakaw siya pero naubos na,” Castro said, while citing an article where the former President publicly admitted to being a “corrupt official.”
Castro’s statement came after Vice President Duterte insisted that the Marcos administration should immediately act on the irregularities surrounding the flood control projects instead of relying on yet another commission.
