Malacañang has called on the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to investigate former Ilocos Sur Governor Chavit Singson after he allegedly urged students to skip classes and join a “revolution against corruption.”
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. wants those who may have incited or fueled violence during Sunday’s rallies to be held accountable.
“Ang gusto po ng Pangulo ay managot ang lahat na maaaring managot at lahat na maaaring sangkot sa marahas na nangyari,” Castro said in a Palace briefing.
She added that Singson went as far as calling on parents to allow their children to take part in the demonstrations.
According to her, it is now up to the DOJ and law enforcement to determine whether Singson’s remarks fall under inciting to sedition, a crime punishable by up to six years under the Revised Penal Code.
