TINDIG PILIPINAS BACKS SENATE MAJORITY, REJECTS POSSIBLE CAYETANO TAKEOVER

Tindig Pilipinas, the group behind the “Trillion Peso March,” has expressed its support for the current Senate majority and denounced the reported move to replace the Senate leadership.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, October 5, the organization rejected what it described as a possible plan by Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano to take over the Senate presidency.

“We are certain that a takeover by Sen. Cayetano will bury the crimes of the Dutertes, leading to a biased and deceitful show of ‘transparency,’” Tindig Pilipinas said.

The group further criticized Cayetano’s credibility on issues of corruption.

“Sen. Alan Cayetano himself has the ‘Caldero’ scandal to answer for and therefore is not credible to us as an anti-corruption figure,” it added.

According to Tindig Pilipinas, it has greater confidence in the current Senate majority to reveal the full truth behind the government’s ongoing corruption controversies.

The statement comes as the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee temporarily suspended its probe on the alleged anomalies in flood control projects last Saturday.

Meanwhile, Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson announced his resignation as chairperson of the Blue Ribbon Committee following complaints from some senators over his leadership style.
