Senator Imee Marcos has made public what she described as “receipts” to prove her strong opposition to the 2025 national budget, emphasizing that she had even pleaded to protect her brother, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., and the Filipino people from possible fallout.
In her latest Facebook post on Monday, October 6, the senator said she had been the most outspoken critic of the proposed budget.
“Ako ang senador na pinakatumutol sa 2025 Budget. […] Umabot pa sa puntong halos makiusap ako dahil ayaw kong mapahamak kapatid ko, pondo ng bayan at ang mamamayan —pero noong mga panahon na ‘yan, mula sa Kongreso, Senado hanggang sa Palasyo, ang almusal nilang lahat ay DEDMA,” Marcos wrote.
Attached to her post were photos of news clippings and statements that, according to her, show her consistent stand against questionable allocations in the previous budget deliberations.

The 2025 bicameral committee report previously drew controversy following allegations that additional insertions were made by her cousin, former House Speaker and Leyte 1st District Representative Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, allegedly to favor certain projects.
