CAYETANO OPEN TO LEADING BLUE RIBBON, SAYS SHE’LL PRAY ABOUT IT

Senator Pia Cayetano said she is praying for guidance as her name is being considered for the chairmanship of the Senate Committee on Accountability, Public Officers and Investigations, more popularly known as the Blue Ribbon Committee.

In an interview with reporters on Wednesday, October 8, Cayetano admitted that accepting such a position in the Senate is not an easy decision to make.

“Hindi madaling umoo sa mga ganiyang bagong posisyon. Because my name was mentioned, edi it’s my job to consider it, 24 lang naman kami and then lima lang naman kaming abogado so, gustuhin ko man o hindi, it’s my job to consider it,” the senator said.

Cayetano also expressed confidence in her ability to take on the role, while emphasizing the importance of choosing the most capable person for the job.

“Wala akong doubt that I can do a good job, with all humility naman, but I really want the best person for the job to handle this kasi this is a defining moment for the Filipino people,” she added.

The senator further shared that she has been praying over the possibility of accepting the position, acknowledging that many have been encouraging her to take it on.

“Actually marami akong sinabihan na ‘I’ll pray,’ kasi maraming nagtatanong. Sabi ko ‘Pag-pray n’yo ko,’” Cayetano said.

It can be recalled that in 2024, Cayetano once held the leadership of the Blue Ribbon Committee, making her the first woman to chair the powerful investigative body.

Meanwhile, other senators who have been floated as possible successors for the post include Senate Deputy Majority Leaders JV Ejercito and Risa Hontiveros, as well as Senators Raffy Tulfo and Kiko Pangilinan.
