TROPICAL STORM “QUEDAN” ENTERS PH AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY — PAGASA

Tropical Storm “Nakri”, given the local name “Quedan,” has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), according to the 12:40 PM update from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Thursday, October 9.

Before entering PAR, the storm was last observed 1,415 km east northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon, carrying maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h near its center, gustiness reaching up to 90 km/h, and a central pressure of 998 hPa.

The weather system is moving north-northwestward at 25 km/h.

As of this report, no tropical cyclone wind signals have been raised over any part of the country. However, PAGASA has advised the public and local authorities to remain alert, especially in areas that could be affected should the storm’s track shift closer to Philippine landmass.

PAGASA continues to monitor Quedan’s movement and intensity and is expected to issue updates should the storm intensify or alter its course.
