MPD WARNS PUBLIC AGAINST FAKE POSTS ON ALLEGED MANILA PROTESTS

The Manila Police District (MPD) has issued a warning to the public against the spread of false information on social media, particularly posts and videos alleging that protest actions are set to take place in certain areas of the city.

“These misleading posts have no basis and are only intended to stir unnecessary panic,” the MPD said in a statement, as reported by the Manila Bulletin on Sunday, October 12.

Authorities clarified that most of the circulating videos are old, edited, or completely fabricated. They emphasized that these materials are deceptive and are being used to sow fear and confusion among the public.

The MPD urged social media users not to believe or share unverified information and to be responsible in what they post online.

“We remind everyone to get information only from official sources and avoid spreading unverified claims,”
the MPD added.

Police also called on the public to help curb the spread of disinformation by reporting misleading content directly to social media platforms.

Officials explained that any legitimate rally or public gathering must undergo proper coordination with local authorities. So far, they said, there are no confirmed activities that match the claims circulating online.

The police further reminded citizens to stay vigilant, rely only on official government sources, and use the “report” feature on social media whenever they encounter suspicious or misleading posts.

This advisory came after several photos and sliced video clips from the September 21 mass rally resurfaced online. The materials were reportedly being reused by some pages and vloggers, falsely claiming that new demonstrations were currently taking place in Manila.
