DOJ: DISCAYA COUPLE’S WITHDRAWAL FROM ICI WON’T STOP FLOOD CONTROL PROBE

Despite the withdrawal of Sarah and Curlee Discaya from cooperating with the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI), Prosecutor General Richard Anthony Fadullon clarified that there are no indications yet that the couple has also decided to stop working with the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Fadullon noted that the Discayas’ decision could affect their bid to become state witnesses, emphasizing that they are not in the position to dictate how the DOJ should handle the process.

“They’re applying for supposedly witness protection coverage. And we have our procedures to determine whether or not they will be qualified or not. It is not for everybody to dictate to us how we will go about doing the evaluation,” Fadullon said.

The Prosecutor General also assured that the DOJ’s investigation into the alleged anomalies in flood control projects will continue, regardless of the couple’s cooperation.

“Even if they refuse to participate, it won’t hinder our case buildup. We already have other pieces of evidence aside from what they can provide,” he added.

The Discaya couple, owners of St. Gerrard Construction, had been previously linked to joint ventures with CLTG Builders, a company managed by the family of Senator Bong Go. The partnership has been under scrutiny for its alleged involvement in questionable flood control contracts.
