Malacañang dismissed Senator Bong Go’s claim that the ongoing flood control scam investigation has been diverted to unfairly implicate his family’s construction business in the alleged corruption within the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
According to Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro, the senator’s statement is merely his personal opinion, emphasizing that the government’s investigation covers contracts and transactions made over the past ten years.
“Siguro ‘yan lang ang kanyang opinyon pero hindi tayo sasang-ayon diyan. Eh ‘di ipakita na lang niya kung ano ‘yung resibong meron siya,” Castro said, stressing that there is no need for the senator to feel aggrieved if he can defend himself with evidence.
Castro added that the administration remains focused on uncovering the truth behind the decade-long flood control irregularities, regardless of who may be implicated.
Earlier, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla suggested that the couple Curlee and Sarah Discaya might be protecting Go amid the investigation due to a previous business deal with CLTG Builders, a construction firm owned by the senator’s father and brother.
Go, however, firmly denied the accusation, saying he never had any direct transaction or personal connection with the Discayas.
