The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) reported on Tuesday that over 36,000 applications were submitted on the first day of the nationwide resumption of voter registration on Monday, October 20.
According to COMELEC data, a total of 36,536 individuals filed their applications on the opening day.
CALABARZON (Region 4-A) led the regions with the highest number of applicants at 8,290, followed by the National Capital Region (NCR) with 4,637, Central Luzon (Region 3) with 4,100, and Central Visayas (Region 7) with 3,145. The Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) recorded the fewest applications at 483.
The voter registration period, which started Monday, will continue until May 18, 2026. COMELEC has set up satellite registration sites and local Offices of the Election Officer across cities and municipalities, operating Monday to Sunday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., to accommodate applicants.
Apart from new voter registration, the poll body is also accepting applications for:
- Transfer of records
- Change of name or status
- Correction of entries
- Reactivation of registration records
- Inclusion of registration records
- Reinstatement of names in the list of voters
COMELEC aims to register approximately 1.4 million new voters ahead of the November 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections during the seven-month registration period.
