Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla has raised concerns over the questionable appointments of several high-ranking officials in the Office of the Ombudsman, describing them as “last-minute hires” made under dubious circumstances.
According to Remulla, 99 out of the 204 individuals hired shortly before his assumption of office currently occupy senior positions, prompting scrutiny of the hiring strategy used.
He revealed that his office has issued a memorandum requesting the courtesy resignation of all 204 personnel with Salary Grade 25 and above.
The last-minute appointees reportedly hold key posts such as:
- Special Prosecutor
- Graft Investigator
- Assistant Ombudsman
- Director IV
Remulla said the move aims to ensure accountability and transparency, noting that those affected will have to reapply and undergo a new evaluation process.
