BULACAN ENGINEERS, CONTRACTOR MAY SPEND CHRISTMAS IN JAIL — DIZON

Former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) engineers from Bulacan’s 1st District and a contractor may spend the holidays behind bars once charges related to the flood control scam are filed before the year ends, according to DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon.

Dizon identified the individuals involved as former DPWH district engineer Henry Alcantara, assistant engineers Brice Hernandez and Jaypee Mendoza, and contractor Sarah Discaya of St. Timothy Construction Corporation.

“Sa tingin ko, sa kulungan na sila magpapasko niyan,” Dizon said in a television interview, hinting that the accused could be arrested before Christmas.

He added that the Office of the Ombudsman, led by Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla, is fast-tracking the filing of cases against those linked to the Bulacan flood control project anomalies.

“Ombudsman Boying Remulla said that the first case we filed on September 13 is the fastest to get some personalities in jail. This includes notorious individuals from the First District of Bulacan—Alcantara, Hernandez, et cetera—and Sarah Discaya,” Dizon stated.

The flood control scam has drawn national attention following revelations of alleged collusion between DPWH officials and private contractors in implementing multi-million peso infrastructure projects.

If cases proceed as expected, the accused could face arrest and detention before the end of 2025.
