DBM OKAYS ₱740.8M QRF REPLENISHMENT FOR DISASTER RELIEF, RECOVERY

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has approved the release of an additional ₱740.8 million in replenishment funds for the government’s Quick Response Fund (QRF) to strengthen ongoing relief and recovery operations following recent natural disasters across the country.

According to the DBM, ₱640.834 million has been allocated to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), while ₱100 million will go to the Department of National Defense–Office of Civil Defense (OCD).

“President (Ferdinand) Bongbong Marcos’s order is clear that the government’s response should not be a one-time effort. Our support to agencies and LGUs will continue to help our countrymen return to normal life,” said Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman.

The ₱640.834 million allotted to the DSWD will fund the procurement of Family Food Packs and Non-Food Items, as well as the Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) program for 73,348 families affected by recent earthquakes in Cebu City (Region VII) and Davao (Region XI). It will also support residents hit by the southwest monsoon and tropical cyclones Mirasol, Nando, and Opong in the Bicol Region.

Meanwhile, the ₱100 million released to the OCD will cover Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE) to sustain the agency’s disaster management operations until the end of the year.
