NO NEED FOR HOSPITAL ARREST IN FLOOD CONTROL CASES — REMULLA

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla said on Friday that there is no reason for the suspects in the flood control scandal to request hospital arrest, noting that the newly built Quezon City Jail facility in Payatas is already equipped with adequate medical amenities for detainees.

Remulla made the statement after inspecting the newly completed detention facility alongside Independent Commission on Infrastructure (ICI) Chairperson and retired Supreme Court Justice Andres Reyes Jr., and former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio “Babes” Singson.

The facility, which can accommodate between 200 and 1,000 inmates, is being readied for potential detainees connected to the ongoing investigation into corruption involving flood control projects.

Remulla emphasized that the jail’s location near the Sandiganbayan and its capacity to house individuals on trial meet the court’s proximity and logistical requirements.
