COMELEC OPENS DOORS FOR PUBLIC REQUESTS ON SATELLITE REGISTRATION

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) announced that it is open to receiving public requests for the conduct of satellite voters’ registration in various localities.

Under Resolution No. 11177, the poll body stated that citizens may file requests for satellite registration activities in their chosen areas. These requests will be evaluated and endorsed to the Provincial Election Supervisor, subject to the approval of the COMELEC En Banc.

However, the COMELEC noted that satellite registration activities require a minimum of 200 prospective applicants in the proposed location. For remote areas with fewer qualified applicants, the minimum number is 50.

Once approved, the registration activities must be conducted in public or private buildings that are not owned, rented, or occupied as a residence by any national, city, municipal, or barangay official, or any individual related to such officials within the fourth degree of consanguinity or affinity.

The resolution also emphasized that no additional expenses should be incurred by the Commission in conducting these satellite registrations.

During the voter registration period, all Offices of the Election Officer (OEOs) are mandated to organize satellite voter registration in each barangay within their respective cities, districts, or municipalities.

Authorized venues for these activities include barangay halls or centers, public and private schools and universities, malls, commercial establishments, and other public or convenient spaces.

The ongoing voter registration for the November 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) began on October 20, 2025, and will run until May 18, 2026.
