ZALDY CO ALLEGEDLY POCKETED ₱21 BILLION FROM FLOOD CONTROL PROJECTS

Former Ako Bicol Party-list Representative Zaldy Co allegedly pocketed no less than ₱21 billion from irregular flood control projects, according to reports released Wednesday, October 29.

The staggering figure was reportedly derived from data and documents presented to the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) by former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bulacan 1st District Engineer Henry Alcantara and Assistant Engineer Brice Hernandez.

It can be recalled that the ICI issued another subpoena to Co on October 28, served to his residences in Pasig and Bicol.

“We’re just awaiting the reports coming from the one who had served these,” said ICI Executive Director Brian Keith Hosaka.

He added, “Then once we receive these from them, then we will study the matter kung ano ‘yong magiging next action or steps ng ICI.”

Co’s hearing before the commission has been scheduled for November 11 and 12, where he is expected to respond to the allegations.

However, on Tuesday, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) confirmed that three of the ten air assets reportedly owned by the former lawmaker had already left the country, raising further questions about Co’s current whereabouts and the extent of his assets linked to the alleged corruption scheme.
