The Supreme Court (SC) announced on Wednesday the creation of special courts that will exclusively hear and decide corruption-related cases arising from government infrastructure projects once they are filed.
During its en banc session, the SC directed the Office of the Court Administrator (OCA) to closely monitor the filing of cases involving graft and corruption in connection with infrastructure projects before the Regional Trial Courts (RTCs).
At the same time, the High Tribunal reaffirmed its commitment to implement continuous judicial reforms, including digitalization initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency, transparency, and accountability within the judiciary.
The reform efforts will cover all levels of the judiciary—from trial courts to the Court of Appeals, Sandiganbayan, and the Court of Tax Appeals.
Under the Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovations (SPJI) 2022–2027), the Supreme Court seeks to address the longstanding issues of case delays and backlogs by institutionalizing efficient systems, strengthening modern solutions, and expanding access to justice for all.
