The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported a 13.96% drop in the nationwide crime rate over the past three months, highlighting significant progress in its campaign against criminality.
Based on data released over the weekend, index crimes went down from 6,961 cases recorded between July and August 25 to 5,989 cases from August 26 to October 30.
Similarly, focus crimes — which include murder, homicide, rape, physical injury, theft, and carnapping of both motorcycles and motor vehicles — also declined by 14.01%, from 6,931 to 5,960 cases in the same comparative period.
PNP Acting Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the results reflect the effectiveness of the police organization’s strategic direction.
“All these accomplishments are part of the PNP Focus Agenda — our roadmap that ensures we manage resources wisely, take care of our people, improve operations, uphold integrity, and work closely with the community,” Nartatez said.
From August 26 to October 30, police units carried out 9,061 anti-illegal drug operations, which resulted in the arrest of 10,434 drug personalities, the neutralization of eight others, and the seizure of ₱1.91 billion worth of illegal drugs.
The intensified operations against wanted persons also led to the arrest or voluntary surrender of over 11,500 individuals, while 5,600 loose firearms were confiscated, surrendered, or placed under safekeeping.
In separate operations, the PNP said authorities also seized ₱2.86 million worth of illegal gambling paraphernalia and ₱337.8 million worth of smuggled goods, as part of the ongoing campaign to dismantle criminal networks and strengthen public safety nationwide.
