SAN JOSE DEL MONTE ENDS PRIMEWATER DEAL TO ADDRESS WATER WOES

The local government of San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan has officially ended its joint venture agreement with the Villar-led Primewater Infrastructure Corporation — a move Mayor Florida Robes described as a step toward “genuine change” in resolving the city’s long-standing water issues.

“I formally report to you that the Joint Venture Agreement between the San Jose Water District and Primewater has been eliminated. It is the beginning of genuine change to put an end to a system that has burdened many households,” Robes said.

According to the city’s Water Task Force, the termination was prompted by Primewater’s repeated failure to deliver a stable daily water supply, especially in severely affected barangays.

Robes said the local government has launched emergency interventions such as deploying water trucks, repairing wells with filtration systems, installing solar-powered pumps, and using bulk containers to boost supply.

“We will still go through processes and challenges while organizing new management for our water system, but be assured that we will not stop until residents enjoy the convenience, safety, and relief they deserve,” she added.

The mayor also noted that while national efforts continue to tackle the broader water crisis, San Jose del Monte will push for sustainable, localized solutions.
