Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III confirmed that he plans to meet with House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III and Leyte 1st District Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, the former House Speaker, regarding Romualdez’s possible attendance in the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee investigation on alleged irregularities in flood control projects.
“Pinag-iisipan lang namin kung iimbitahan, baka pwedeng diretso imbitahin or through Speaker Bojie. Siguro mas maganda kung diretso namin siyang iimbitahin,” Sotto said.
He added that the meeting with Dy and Romualdez will be finalized within the next few days.
“Nakapagpa-set up lang ako ng meeting. It might be later or tomorrow. Basta within the next few days, we’ll be able to talk. Kung kailan biglang magkaka-open ang schedule namin,” he noted.
When asked why a meeting was needed, Sotto explained, “Para maimbita. Para maging pormal yung imbitasyon.”
Sotto, along with Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and other lawmakers, earlier encouraged Romualdez to attend the Senate inquiry after his name was mentioned among politicians allegedly receiving kickbacks from questionable flood control projects.
