CEBU GOV SLAMS ₱26-B FLOOD CONTROL FUNDS AMID TYPHOON TINO FLOODS

Cebu Governor Pam Baricuatro drew public attention after posting on Facebook about the widespread flooding in the province brought by Typhoon Tino, questioning how Cebu could still suffer such severe damage despite the reported ₱26 billion flood control funds.

“₱26 billion of flood control funds for Cebu yet we are flooded to the max,” Baricuatro wrote on Tuesday, November 4, alongside photos showing flooded areas and damaged vehicles.

In her post, the governor highlighted the situation in her hometown of Pinamungajan, where floodwaters reached knee-deep levels.

“My hometown, Pinamungajan… What happened to the flood control projects?” she asked.

Baricuatro assured residents that provincial authorities are responding swiftly.

“Search and rescue operations are ongoing, relief packs are being distributed, and the first round of leptospirosis prophylaxis has been administered to our PDRRMO responders,” she said.

She added that more supplies and personnel are set to arrive as response operations continue.

“To all Cebuanos — let us remain united, calm, and compassionate. We have faced challenges before, and we will overcome this one together. Kumbati, Sugbo,” Baricuatro said.
