The Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) will hold a three-day religious gathering at Rizal Park in Manila from November 17 to 19, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño said initial intelligence estimates suggest that around 300,000 people could attend the event.
“Base po sa inisyal na binigay po ng intelligence unit ng [Directorate for Operations], ang number na binigay nila, original ho ay 300,000,” Tuaño said in a press briefing on Wednesday, clarifying that the figure remains an early estimate.
A coordination meeting between police units is set for this afternoon to finalize preparations and crowd control measures.
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has committed to deploy 9,829 police personnel to maintain peace and order, while the Manila City government will provide 14 ambulances for medical emergencies.
Tuaño emphasized that the upcoming activity is a “religious rally” and not a political event.
Earlier this year, INC held a National Rally for Peace at the Quirino Grandstand, which drew an estimated one million attendees, according to police reports.
