The Philippine National Police (PNP) will deploy more than 9,800 personnel to ensure security and order during the three-day rally of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) calling for transparency and accountability in government. The event will be held at Rizal Park in Manila from November 16 to 18.
PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuano said the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) will assign 9,829 police officers to handle crowd control, traffic management, and public safety throughout the event.
Police officers will secure the perimeter around Rizal Park, while INC security marshals will oversee safety inside the venue, Tuano added. The NCRPO will also be placed on full alert status during the entire duration of the rally.
The INC expects up to 300,000 participants, though the PNP is still verifying whether this figure represents the daily turnout or the total for all three days.
Tuano assured that the gathering is expected to remain peaceful, citing the group’s record of orderly events. Nonetheless, the PNP remains prepared for any possible situation.
He clarified that the activity is a religious gathering, not a political protest.
Meanwhile, the City of Manila will deploy 14 ambulances around Rizal Park to provide immediate medical assistance to attendees in need.
The rally was originally planned to be held at the EDSA People Power Monument in Quezon City but was moved to Manila to avoid expected heavy traffic in the EDSA area, Tuano said.
