Philippine National Police (PNP) Acting Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. urged police officers on Sunday to make sure their families are safe as they continue to serve the public amid the impact of Typhoon Uwan.
In a statement, Nartatez emphasized that preparedness begins at home, noting that officers who are assured of their loved ones’ safety can serve the public more effectively.
“Our families are our strength and inspiration. As you serve the people during this typhoon, make sure your loved ones are safe and secure. A police officer at peace about his family’s safety can give his full heart to the service of others,” he said.
He also instructed commanders at all levels to give personnel time to check on their families while remaining alert and ready to respond to any emergency.
“Let us serve with compassion and presence of mind. Preparedness starts within our own families,” Nartatez added.
The PNP’s disaster response units and Reactionary Standby Support Forces remain on duty to assist in rescue, evacuation, and relief efforts in coordination with the NDRRMC and local government units.
