The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has implemented free rides on MRT-3, LRT-1, and LRT-2 throughout Monday, November 10, until Tuesday, November 11, due to the severe weather brought by Typhoon Uwan.
According to Malacañang, aside from the trains, the Office of the President (OP), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), and the office of Senator Erwin Tulfo will also deploy buses to provide free transportation to commuters on November 10.
These buses will cover the routes Quiapo–Fairview, Quiapo–Angono, Lawton–Alabang, Roxas Boulevard–Sucat, and Taft–Cubao. The program may be extended until November 11 depending on passenger demand.
The PPA has also waived RoRo terminal fees for vehicles carrying rescue equipment and relief goods bound for areas affected by Typhoon Uwan. This includes both government and private vehicles delivering aid to disaster-hit communities.
Similarly, local airlines have suspended cargo fees for shipments of relief supplies.
DOTr Acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez earlier directed the Toll Regulatory Board to exempt emergency and rescue responders from paying toll fees when using expressways.
The Palace assured the public that food and drinking water continue to be distributed to stranded passengers at ports and terminals, while the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) closely monitors airport conditions affected by the typhoon.
