Former Senate President and Presidential Legal Counsel Juan Ponce Enrile has been brought to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) due to pneumonia, Senator Jinggoy Estrada revealed on Tuesday, November 11.
“I have information that our colleague former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile is currently in the ICU of an undisclosed hospital suffering from pneumonia,” Estrada said during the Senate session.
“I heard from a very, very reliable source that he has slim chances of surviving,” he added.
Following Estrada’s remarks, the Senate offered a prayer for Enrile’s recovery, led by Deputy Minority Leader Joel Villanueva.
Enrile, who turned 101 years old last February 14, was recently acquitted of his alleged involvement in the misuse of the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) during his time as senator.
