Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III acknowledged Tuesday that he has heard of talks about a possible leadership change in the chamber but remains confident he will retain his post.
“We hear it every now and then. It’s a common… It’s a common kwento,” Sotto said, adding there were stories over the weekend about people allegedly pushing for change.
“One or two stories na meron daw lumalakad, kumakausap. Ganoon lang.”
He emphasized leaving the matter to his colleagues: “Ako naman, I leave it to our peers. The Senate President is always, or the Senate President should always leave it to the wisdom and the trust and confidence of his colleagues.”
Sotto is calling a majority caucus to prepare for this week’s budget deliberations, stressing that all amendments must be openly discussed and no insertions will be allowed.
He began his second stint as Senate President on September 8 after receiving 15 votes, ousting former Senate President Chiz Escudero, who was implicated in alleged kickbacks in flood control projects.
