PBBM WELCOMES BAN KI-MOON, PRAISES CLIMATE ADVOCACY

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Tuesday welcomed former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon at Malacañang, commending his advocacy for climate resilience and sustainability, particularly for vulnerable nations like the Philippines.

“I am glad that you continue this very important work… What you are doing- sustainability- is key to the survival of my country, considering we are so vulnerable to the effects of climate change,” Marcos told Ban.

Ban thanked the President for the warm reception and expressed hope for a swift recovery from recent typhoons.

His visit followed Typhoon Tino and Super Typhoon Uwan, which heavily impacted several provinces.

On Monday, Ban participated in the Trans-Pacific Sustainability Dialogue in Makati City, urging the international community to support climate-vulnerable countries.

Marcos and Ban last met in February 2024, when the President welcomed continued support from the Global Green Growth Institute, where Ban serves as president and chairman of the council.
