Former Senator Teofisto “TG” Guingona III has joined the Katipunan ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino (KNP), the political party led by Senator Bam Aquino, sparking speculation about a possible return to politics.

The son of former Vice President Teofisto “Tito” Guingona Jr., TG Guingona served in the Senate from 2010 to 2016.
He ran for re-election in 2016 alongside then-Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas and Camarines Sur 3rd District Representative Leni Robredo but failed to secure a seat, ranking 17th in the official results.
Guingona also chaired the Senate Committee on Accountability, Public Officers, and Investigations, commonly known as the Blue Ribbon Committee, from 2010 to 2016, where he led probes into alleged misuse of the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) involving then-Senators Jinggoy Estrada, Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., and Juan Ponce Enrile.
At present, Guingona remains tight-lipped about his political plans.
