Senator Imee Marcos claimed Wednesday that retired Marine TSgt. Orly Guteza, the former Senate witness who alleged delivering suitcases of money to the home of former Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, is now being coerced into retracting his testimony regarding the anomalous flood control projects.
“Ang mangyayari ngayon, magre-recant ang mga testigo… pina-pressure, tinatakot ang pamilya, at halos tinutukan ang asawa’t anak,” Marcos said in an ambush interview.
She added that Guteza, who earlier testified before the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, is facing “intense intimidation” due to the gravity of his statements. Guteza previously claimed to have delivered ₱48 million each to the houses of Romualdez and former Ako Bicol Representative Zaldy Co.
His credibility was later questioned after it was revealed that the notary public listed in his affidavit was fake.
