VP SARA SAYS SHE WON’T ATTEND INC RALLY, URGES GOV’T TO RESPECT RIGHTS

Vice President Sara Duterte clarified on Friday, November 14, that she is not scheduled to attend the protest set to be launched by the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC).

In a media interview, she emphasized that while she will not join the rally, she is calling on the government to respect the group’s right to express their views.

“Sa lahat ng mga rallies, wala akong schedule dito sa Pilipinas. ang mga rallies na ginagawa namin ay laging nasa overseas. Pero I commit and I call on the administration to respect the right of the people’s freedom of speech and expression,” VP Sara said.

She added, “’Wag masyado silang [gobyerno] maging balat-sibuyas.”

The INC protest seeks to push for “transparency” and accountability on various social issues.

Meanwhile, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) reminded parents not to allow their children to join “geng-geng” and “gangsta” groups planning to participate in the INC rally.
