A recent Tugon ng Masa Survey conducted by OCTA Research revealed that a significant majority of Filipinos are willing to defend and protect the country even amid rising challenges.
According to the survey results, 70% of respondents expressed willingness to fight for the nation, while 30% were “unwilling” or “undecided.”
Most of the respondents came from the National Capital Region (NCR) at 79%, followed by Luzon at 73%, Visayas at 61%, and Mindanao at 66%. The survey, conducted from September 25 to 30, included Filipino participants aged 18 and above.
In a statement, the Department of National Defense (DND) said the findings reflect the strong patriotism of the Filipino people.
“This profound sense of civic duty and patriotism cuts across ages and socio-economic classes, and speaks volumes of the enduring unity that binds the Filipino people when faced by external threats,” the agency said.
The DND, together with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), added that they draw strength from the public’s steadfast support.
“As the DND and the AFP continue to work doubly hard to establish a credible deterrent posture to prevent conflict within and near our borders, our brave soldiers draw strength from the people’s unwavering support and willingness to stand beside them,” the agency assured.
The DND concluded its statement with a reminder of the nation’s unity and strength.
“May this message ring loudly to those who seek to sow discord among our citizens: the bonds that hold our nation together remain strong. Any attempt to undermine our values and democratic way of life will be met with steadfast resistance,” it said.
“Ang mga Pilipino kailanman ay hindi pasisiil,” the DND added.
