President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is closely monitoring the start of the Iglesia ni Cristo’s (INC) three-day protest at the Quirino Grandstand in Rizal Park, Manila, according to Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Dave Gomez.
Gomez said Marcos has been following developments from his office in Malacañang as the religious group launches its “Rally for Transparency and a Better Democracy,” an event meant to highlight calls for transparency amid allegations of anomalies in government projects.
“Yes, the President is monitoring today,” Gomez told reporters via text, confirming that Marcos is inside the Palace keeping watch over the situation.
The rally began Sunday, November 16, and will run until Tuesday, November 18, with related activities expected across various parts of Metro Manila.
INC emphasized that the protest is open not only to its members but to all citizens seeking accountability from the government. The group said the demonstration aims to raise public awareness over controversies involving more than a trillion pesos allegedly lost to corruption in government projects since 2023.
Law enforcement agencies have deployed personnel to secure protest sites, while Malacañang continues to monitor developments throughout the event.
