The National Capital Region Command (NCRCOM) called on protesters to keep demonstrations peaceful and disciplined as multiple rallies are set across Metro Manila from Sunday, November 16, to Tuesday, November 18.
“Amidst the currents of political speculation and noise, we appeal to the general public in the NCR–the very heart of our nation–to remain calm and discerning,” NCRCOM said.
They urged organizers and participants to stay committed to non-violence: “We call on organizers and participants to uphold their commitment to peaceful conduct and discipline.”
The command unit emphasized that close coordination between rally organizers and authorities remains the best safeguard against individuals or groups seeking to infiltrate and disrupt the gatherings.
“Your cooperation is the most effective safeguard against those who might seek to infiltrate these events and exploit them for unlawful or divisive purposes,” NCRCOM noted.
They also encouraged demonstrators to choose unity and responsibility amid ongoing national challenges: “Let us collectively choose unity and responsibility, especially as we continue our recovery efforts from recent challenges.”
NCRCOM ended its statement with a commitment to uphold safety, security, and democratic integrity throughout the protest period.
“The NCRCOM stands firm: we will serve honorably, maintain safety, security, and stability in the National Capital Region, and preserve the integrity of our democratic processes.”
