NPC CRITICIZES ZALDY CO’S “UNSWORN” VIDEO ON BUDGET CONTROVERSY

The Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) on Monday said former Ako Bicol Representative Zaldy Co was attempting to cast himself as a victim in the flood control controversy through an “unsworn, unnotarized, unauthenticated and produced abroad” video that “carries no legal weight or value as formal testimony.”

The party said the video’s “emotional and theatrical tone” appeared aimed at shifting public sentiment, diverting attention from “serious questions surrounding anomalous insertions and alleged ghost projects” tied to the 2025 budget review.

As House Appropriations Committee chair in 2024, the NPC stressed that Co was responsible for House-side adjustments during the bicameral conference.

The group urged the public to remain cautious of “dramatic online content that lacks verification,” emphasizing that issues of national concern must be resolved through evidence, sworn statements, and proper legal processes.

It added that if Co intends to pursue his claims, he should submit a sworn affidavit, supporting documents, and appear before authorities.

NPC also commended President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. for pushing efforts to uncover budget irregularities and establishing the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI).

The party reiterated its commitment to transparency, due process, and evidence-based review.
