NORTH LUZON ALLIANCE BACKS SPEAKER DY AMID RUMORED SHAKE-UP

Amid renewed talk of a possible leadership shake-up in the House of Representatives, Majority Leader and Ilocos Norte 1st District Representative Sandro Marcos, son of President Bongbong Marcos, led 38 members of the Northern Luzon Alliance in issuing a manifesto declaring their “unequivocal support” for Speaker Bojie Dy.

In a two-page statement, the alliance — composed of lawmakers from Regions I, II, and the Cordillera Administrative Region — said their support is grounded in unity, trust, and conviction.

“We speak not by reason of political alignment or expediency, but out of conviction, experience and an unwavering belief in the Speaker’s leadership, integrity and steady hand in guiding the House of Representatives,” the manifesto read.

The bloc said North Luzon legislators stand firmly behind Dy as he guides the chamber toward “meaningful legislation, political stability and national progress.

They highlighted Dy’s role in maintaining “stability,” adding: “In his example, we see fairness. In his direction, we see continuity and progress.”

Calling for an end to political bickering, the alliance urged colleagues to move past the “division, paralysis and unnecessary distractions of a poisoned political atmosphere,” stressing that their position is rooted “not in personalities but in principle.”

They reaffirmed their “solid, immovable and unequivocal support,” saying, “We resolutely stand behind him with the full weight of our mandate, our districts and the trust of our people.”

Among the signatories were Deputy Speakers Kristine Singson-Meehan and Francisco Paolo Ortega V; Ilocos lawmakers Angelo Marcos Barba and Ronald Singson; Pangasinan Representatives Arthur Celeste, Mark Cojuangco, Ma. Rachel Arenas, Georgina De Venecia, Ramon Guico Jr., and Marlyn Primicias-Agabas; along with representatives from Isabela, Cagayan, the Cordilleras, and northern-aligned party-list groups including Solid North, PHILRECA, ABONO, United Senior Citizens, FPJ Panday Bayanihan, AKO ILOCANO AKO, KM Ngayon Na, ACT-CIS, and LPGMA.
