President Bongbong Marcos on Friday said he expects the Office of the Ombudsman to potentially file charges against his cousin, former House Speaker and Leyte 1st District Representative Martin Romualdez, and former Ako Bicol Partylist Representative Zaldy Co.
In a video statement, PBBM reported ongoing investigations into alleged anomalies in flood control projects.
“Kagaya ng aking nasabi noong nakaraang report ko, ay patuloy ang pagrereport ko sa taong bayan tungkol sa mga kaso at saka sa mga impormasyon na nakukuha natin tungkol sa mga flood control project na hindi maganda,” he said.
The President noted that the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will submit their findings to the Ombudsman.
“At kaya ngayon, ay nais kong ipaalam sa ating mga kababayan na ang ICI at saka ang DPWH ay lahat ng nakuha nila na impormasyon, ay irerefer, ibibigay na sa Ombudsman para imbestigahan ng Ombudsman,” Marcos added.
He said evidence could lead to plunder, graft, or indirect bribery charges against Romualdez and Co.
“Ito ay tungkol sa mga impormasyon ng dating Speaker Martin Romualdez at saka ni Zaldy Co. Pag nakita lahat ng ebidensya, baka magfile ng kaso ng plunder o anti-graft o indirect bribery,” he stated.
Marcos expressed confidence that the Ombudsman is acting based on evidence.
“Malakas naman ang loob natin na yung Ombudsman ang ginagawa lamang ay sumusunod sa ebidensya, at kung saan tayo dinadala ng ebidensya, doon pupunta ang ating imbestigasyon,” he concluded.
