The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has confirmed that it has issued subpoenas to several individuals allegedly linked to anomalous flood control projects.
In an interview with a local news outlet on Friday, November 21, CIDG Director Maj. Gen. Robert Alexander Marico II stressed that the Philippine National Police (PNP) has long been complying with the necessary investigations following President Bongbong Marcos’ issuance of Executive Order No. 94, which directs the probe into the controversial projects.
“In line with its investigative mandate, the Group has issued subpoenas to certain individuals pursuant to its authority under 10973. Other concerned persons may be summoned during the course of the on-going investigation,” the CIDG said.
However, the agency declined to identify the individuals who have already been subpoenaed.
“We refrain from providing further information on the matter as investigation is underway. These matters will be better expounded by the ICI,” the CIDG added.
The subpoenas come months after widespread investigations into irregularities surrounding the flood control projects. Several individuals have already been charged, including former Ako Bicol Partylist Representative Zaldy Co, identified as one of the alleged masterminds behind the 2025 budget insertions in Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) projects, particularly those involving flood control.
Also being monitored for possible charges by the Office of the Ombudsman are Curlee and Sarah Discaya, contractors who reportedly handled major flood control and infrastructure projects funded by the government.
The CIDG’s actions signal the continued expansion of the probe, as authorities prepare to summon more personalities in the coming weeks.
