Malacañang on Friday confirmed that Commodore Andro Val Abayon has been appointed as acting head of the Presidential Security Command (PSC) following the removal of former PSC chief Major General Peter Burgonio.
“Abayon was designated as acting PSC head while Burgonio was designated as acting division commander of 8ID (8th Infantry Division),” Presidential Communications Office Secretary Dave Gomez told Palace reporters in a text message.
The Palace has not provided further comments regarding the leadership change in the unit responsible for ensuring the safety of President Bongbong Marcos and the First Family.
The announcement comes days after rumors of a possible “military reset,” suggesting that several military leaders were plotting to install tycoon Ramon Ang as caretaker of the government amid speculation about a new president.
