President Bongbong Marcos met with provincial governors this week at Malacañang, reinforcing political backing amid public outrage over anomalous flood control projects.
During a Thursday courtesy call, the League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP), led by South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr., presented a General Assembly resolution declaring “full support” for PBBM’s leadership and pledging to “protect the Presidency from adversaries of the Constitution, democracy, and good governance.”

Tamayo, also national president of the ruling Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), which Marcos chairs, was thanked by the President, who dismissed the “political noise” and said, “there is so much work to be done,” while promising further updates on the flood control investigation.
The move came amid protests, public scrutiny of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), and online speculation over Palace maneuvering.

A day earlier, major business groups—including the Makati Business Club, PCCI, MAP, FINEX, ICD, and PFA—issued a unified statement backing PBBM, emphasizing their commitment to a competitive and resilient economy.
The League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP), representing city mayors, also expressed full support, stating, “We stand behind his commitment to further empower LGUs… while upholding transparency and accountability.”
The endorsements arrive as Malacañang faces mounting pressure to act swiftly on the flood control corruption probe, with Marcos pledging arrests “before Christmas.”
