Trade Secretary Cristina Roque on Sunday assured consumers that there will be no price increases for Noche Buena products this holiday season — and in fact, several items have rolled back their prices.
In a televised interview, Roque said some staples saw reductions.
“Actually, for the Noche Buena items meron pong mga items na nag-rollback po sila,” she said. “Actually, magandang balita po yun for the consumers.”
Among the products with price rollbacks are ham, queso de bola, spaghetti sauce, and cheese.
“Malaking bagay yun na nag-rollback sila. But dun sa usual Noche Buena items majority of them had no price increase, meaning kung ano yung price nung 2024 yun din po yung presyo ngayon. So, magandang balita po ito,” she added.
Roque also noted that even products outside the list of basic necessities and prime commodities did not implement price hikes.
“Actually ‘yung ibang mga items din nila na hindi kasama sa basic necessities and prime commodities hindi rin po sila nag-price increase,” she said.
She credited this stability to the strong coordination between the DTI and manufacturers.
“And maganda yung relationship ho namin so every time we request, in fact, since I sat down as DTI Secretary, wala pa po kaming price increase and it’s been more than a year already,” Roque said.
