Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla on Monday, November 24, issued a firm warning to accused individuals still at large in connection with the controversial anomalous flood control projects, declaring that authorities will track them down wherever they may be.
“No matter where you are in the world, we will find you. If you are at large, we will find you. If you are hiding in the Philippines we will find you,” Remulla said in a press briefing, expressing confidence in the nationwide and international manhunt.
The DILG identified several fugitives believed to be hiding abroad:
- Former Ako Bicol Partylist Rep. Zaldy Co – location not yet confirmed
- Sunwest Inc. Chairman Aderma Angelie Alcazar – New Zealand
- Sunwest Inc. Board Member Cesar Buenaventura – New York
- DPWH OIC–Planning and Design Division Montrexis Tamayo – Jordan
Additional accused individuals named by the DILG include:
Gerald Pacanan, Gene Ryan Altea, Ruben Santos, Dominic Serrano, Juliet Calvo, Dennis Abagon, Lerma Cayco, Felisardo Casuno, Timojen Sacar, Consuelo Aldon, Noel Cao, and Anthony Ngo.
Meanwhile, DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon assured that the arrests made so far—eight suspects already in custody—represent only the beginning of a broader crackdown.
“Nandito na po tayo sa punto na mananagot na po lahat ng mga dapat managot pero umpisa pa lang po ito. Ito po ang unang-unang kaso tungkol sa flood control sa Oriental Mindoro. Pero marami pa pong parating na kaso. Marami pa pong makakasuhan. Marami pa pong maaresto,” Dizon said.
