Senator Erwin Tulfo shared the Senate’s emerging consensus regarding the ongoing Blue Ribbon Committee investigation into the alleged anomalous flood control projects.
In a media interview on Monday, November 24, Tulfo said the Senate appears inclined to conclude the hearings once formal charges have been filed against those involved.
“Noong last meeting namin ‘ika nga magfa-file na lang kami ng initial committee report. I don’t know kung anong desisyon ni Sen. Ping. But to my understanding, sabi nila Sen. Sotto ng majority na last hearing na raw po ‘yun. Na magsa-submit na lang kami ng committee report. Kasi ‘di ba sabi rin ni Sen. Sotto ni SP Sotto ‘pag mag nag-file na ng kaso titigil na kami,’” Tulfo said.
Tulfo also pointed out the need to move forward with other pressing issues pending before various Senate committees.
“We’ve just come-up with something to give this case to the ICI. Kasi marami ho tayong gagawin nauubos yung oras, andaming nagtatanong nag-aantay. Yung agri, yung smuggling ni Sen. Pangilinan naka-tengga. Yung ating anti-gambling naka-tengga,” he noted.
The Blue Ribbon probe began in August 2025, exposing alleged corruption in flood control projects and dragging several high-profile political figures into the controversy, including former Ako Bicol Partylist Representative Zaldy Co, incumbent senators Joel Villanueva, Jinggoy Estrada, and Chiz Escudero, as well as former senators Grace Poe, Bong Revilla, and current Makati City Mayor Nancy Binay.
Several individuals have since been charged, while authorities continue tracking down those still evading arrest.
