The Japanese classic manga Slam Dunk, which was adapted into a television anime in the early 1990s, quickly became a cultural phenomenon across Asia, capturing the hearts of an entire generation. Along with its fast-paced, exciting plot and vivid, well-defined characters, one of the key elements of its enduring popularity was the theme song ‘Till the End of the World’ (世界が終るまでは…), performed by J-Rock icon Show Wesugi.
As the original voice behind the timeless theme song, Show Wesugi will make his highly anticipated Singapore debut on December 27, 2025, at the ARENA@EXPO starting at 7:00pm. The concert, ‘Till the End of the World’ Show Wesugi Asia Tour 2025 in Singapore, will be a memorable milestone in his musical journey and an emotional experience for fans, sparking waves of nostalgia. In addition, due to heightened tensions between China and Japan, the Shanghai show originally scheduled for December 21 has been officially canceled. As a result, the Singapore stop now stands as the sole remaining date of the tour, offering fans a rare opportunity to witness the powerful live performance of this musical icon.
When the Slam Dunk television anime debuted in Singapore in the 1990s, it quickly sparked a viewing frenzy, captivating audiences across the island. The series’ powerful themes of passion, teamwork, and perseverance resonated deeply with a generation, and played a crucial role in shaping the local basketball culture. Among its most iconic elements is the song ‘Till the End of the World’ (世界が終るまでは…), which has since become a nostalgic anthem for fans. Written and performed by Show Wesugi, this timeless track captures the emotional turning point of the main character, Hisashi Mitsui (三井寿), as he experiences personal redemption. With its stirring melody and poignant lyrics, the song transcends the anime, symbolizing resilience and the spirit of never giving up.
One of the defining figures of Japan’s 1990s rock golden era, Show Wesugi was the lead vocalist and primary songwriter of the legendary band WANDS. Known for his explosive voice and poetic lyrics, he made his debut with WANDS, releasing their first single ‘Loneliness is the Color of Autumn’ (寂しさは秋の色) in 1991. However, in 1996, due to creative differences, he left the band and its affiliated company, Being. Afterward, he formed the rock band al.ni.co with guitarist Hiroshi Shibasaki, and he is currently the lead singer of another rock band, Nekodamashi (猫骗).
Celebrating 34 years in music, the ‘Till the End of the World’ Show Wesugi Asia Tour 2025 in Singapore promises an unforgettable experience. The veteran singer will perform hit song from the Slam Dunk anime, taking fans back to the thrill of the Shohoku Basketball Team and reliving cherished memories. He will also revisit iconic tracks from the WANDS’ era, such as ‘Motto Tsuyoku Dakishimeta Nara’ (もっと强く抱きしめたなら) and ‘The door of time‘ (时の扉) reigniting the energy and spirit of the 90s J-Rock era.
In addition, this performance features top Japanese musicians, with new arrangements and stage designs that guarantee an extraordinary visual and auditory experience.
