THE KINGDOM RETURNS: TV5 ANNOUNCES TV SERIES ADAPTATION

Are you ready for the continuation of Kaharian ng Kalayaan?

Officially confirmed at the trade launch of TV5 and MQuest Ventures on November 25 (Tuesday), the network revealed that the TV adaptation of the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry The Kingdom will be among the offerings for viewers in early 2026.

The film concluded with the formal ascension of Dayang Lualhati Nandula, played by Sue Ramirez, as Queen of the Kingdom of Freedom following the death of her father, Lakan Makisig Nandula, portrayed by Vic Sotto. Yet, it seems that her sister, Dayang Matimyas Lualhati, brought to life by Cristine Reyes, has plans to reclaim the throne from her sibling.

Aside from Ramirez, Reyes, and Piolo Pascual—who is expected to reprise his role as Sulo Tagum—new characters will also join the series, including Ryza Cenon, Maja Salvador, and Derek Ramsey, marking their return to TV5 after several years.

“The Kingdom,” which served as Vic Sotto’s first full-fledged drama movie in the MMFF, took home 2nd Best Picture at the 2024 MMFF Awards Night along with four other awards. The film was also a major box office hit.

Fans can look forward to The Kingdom: The TV Series airing next year on TV5.
