Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) Executive Director Brian Hosaka said Thursday that House Majority Leader and Ilocos Norte 1st District Representative Sandro Marcos will likely appear in a livestreamed hearing, as his letter to the body did not request a closed-door session.
“Right now, if you read the request of Cong. Sandro Marcos it was not stated there, so based on our rules, unless there’s a formal request for an executive session, default would be livestreamed,” Hosaka said.
Marcos earlier made public his letter to the ICI, stating his readiness to attend.
“I am willing to appear before the Commission at any time. I welcome the opportunity to shed light on any matter that may assist your review,” he wrote.
Hosaka said the commission will convene soon to finalize the schedule. If carried out, Marcos will become the first sitting lawmaker to face the ICI in a livestreamed session.
His attendance follows accusations by former Ako Bicol Representative Zaldy Co, who alleged that Marcos inserted at least ₱50 billion into flood control allocations over the past three years.
Marcos has denied the claims, calling Co the “newly crowned champion of the DDS cabal” and rejecting the allegations as false.
