COURT ORDERS TRANSFER OF ALICE GUO TO CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION FOR WOMEN

The Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 167 on Thursday denied former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo’s request to stay at the Pasig City Jail, ordering her transfer to the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City.

Guo, along with co-accused Jaimielyn Santos Cruz and Rachelle Malonzo Carreon, was committed to the women’s penal facility following their conviction for criminal activities linked to an illicit Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGO) hub in Bamban.

“Now, therefore, the court hereby commits to your lawful custody and care accused Alice Leal Guo, Rachelle Joan Malonzo Carreon, and Jaimielyn Santos Cruz,” Presiding Judge Annielyn Medes-Cabelis said in the ruling.

The three will undergo a five-day quarantine at the CIW Reception and Diagnostic Center, followed by a 60-day orientation and evaluation period before placement in the Maximum Security Camp.

Guo, a Chinese national identified as Guo Hua Ping, was convicted for operating trafficking activities inside the Baofu compound—raided in 2023 for concealing trafficked workers and hosting large-scale scam hubs disguised as offshore gaming operations.

She and her co-accused were sentenced to reclusion perpetua, fined ₱2 million per case, and ordered to compensate victims of the syndicate.
