President Bongbong Marcos on Thursday pledged an additional ₱15 million in assistance to support the operations of the President Corazon C. Aquino General Hospital in Baseco, one of Manila’s poorest and most densely populated communities.
During his visit to the area, the President inspected the hospital, which opened on September 6 and has since served around 7,000 patients.

“Nakita natin na napakahalaga ng serbisyo… Bawat araw, more or less 20 pasyente ang dumadaan dito,” he said, emphasizing the facility’s critical role in the community.
The Baseco hospital is Manila’s seventh district hospital and is equipped with 50 beds, an emergency room, digital X-ray services, centralized oxygen lines, and departments for maternity, pediatrics, surgery, and internal medicine.
“Sabi ko tulungan naman natin… Kaya mula sa Tanggapan ng Pangulo, dadagdagan po namin ang suporta ng ₱15 million,” Marcos said, expressing confidence that the additional funding would address the hospital’s immediate needs.
The President underscored the importance of strong coordination between national and local governments to improve healthcare services. He also commended Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso for continuing efforts to modernize the city’s hospitals, saying such initiatives greatly benefit ordinary Filipinos.
Joining the President during the visit were Domagoso, PhilHealth President and CEO Dr. Edwin Mercado, and Presidential Communications Office Acting Secretary Dave Gomez.
Following his stop in Baseco, Marcos also led the inauguration of the San Lazaro Residences in Santa Cruz, Manila—a 20-storey housing project with 382 residential units (40 sq. m each), 169 parking slots, and a ground-floor health center.
