Former Manila Teachers Partylist Representative Virgilio Lacson has been drawn into the widening flood control probe after a joint bank account he shares with former Ako Bicol Representative Zaldy Co was included among the assets frozen by the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC).
The AMLC earlier ordered the freeze of more than ₱12 billion in Co’s assets, a move made public by President Bongbong Marcos. The freeze order covers over 200 bank accounts, 12 insurance policies, and three air assets, including two helicopters and a light aircraft valued at ₱3.9 million.
Documents show that one of the affected accounts is jointly held by Co and Lacson. According to the AMLC, the assets under the order have “probable cause” to be linked to funds or purchases allegedly tied to Co’s anomalous activities.
Lacson, who began serving in Congress in 2016, was a vice chairperson of the House Committee on Appropriations during the same period Co chaired the panel. He was listed in 2019 as one of the chamber’s wealthiest lawmakers, declaring a net worth exceeding ₱793 million.
He represented the Manila Teachers Partylist until 2025 before seeking a seat as one of the nominees of the Senior Citizens Partylist.
