LTO SUSPENDS IMPOUNDING OF E-BIKES AND E-TRIKES ON NATIONAL ROADS

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has suspended the impounding of light electric vehicles (LEVs), including e-bikes and e-trikes, found traversing national roads.

LTO Chief Markus Lacanilao said full enforcement will begin on January 2, 2026, giving riders ample time to understand and comply with regulations.

The temporary halt, he explained, responds to public concerns and allows authorities to ramp up education efforts before penalties are imposed.

Beginning December 1, 2025, LTO enforcers will be visible on roads as they launch an intensive information campaign and explain proper LEV use to the public.
